o BNHRE IN A NUTSHELL
Bulgarian Network for Human Rights Education is a network of organizations and individual experts and human rights activists, whose mission is to strengthen democracy and promote human rights in Bulgaria by enhancing the capacity of civil society to influence political processes and strengthen the rule of law. BNHRE advocates for the universality of human rights, and promotes accountability when these rights are denied or undermined.
BNHRE works to empower people through human rights education to engage in social transformation and promote a culture of human rights for all.
BNHRE stands for a universalist approach to human rights.
BNHRE Vision:
Human rights should be unifying standards, based on universal values.
Human rights education should be made accessible to all people, regardless of their race, ethnicity, believe, social or educational background, citizenship status, gender, age or any other ground of discrimination.
Human Rights Education should be seen as a lifelong learning process, an ongoing education during the whole life.
Human Rights Education should be based on the principles of inclusiveness, gender perspective, non-discrimination; it should promote active participation and should work for empowerment and cooperation.
Human Rights Education should pay specific attention to the vulnerable groups in the societies, including children and young people, girls and women, ethnic, racial and religious minorities, refugees, legal and illegal immigrants, persons with disabilities, persons with addictions and other public health problems, persons with literacy limitations, socially disadvantaged groups.
BNHRE aims:

- To promote democratic development through human rights, focusing on strengthening the participation of citizens in processes that enhance their rights;
- To help reduce the gap between human rights legal framework and practical implementation of human rights legislation, with particular emphasis on the most vulnerable and excluded sectors of society.
- To bridge the gap between formal and non-formal human rights education.
- To bridge the gap between human rights education research and practice.
BNHRE is registered as a non-profit non-governmental organization in the Regional Court of Plovdiv under the Law of the Associations for not-for profit.
BNHRE pledges itself working for public benefit and it is therefore registered in the Central Register of Ministry of Justice of Republic of Bulgaria for NGOs, working for public benefit.
